|What are nodular scabies?|
When a scabies infestation is very severe, or occurs in a person who has very sensitive skin, a secondary condition
called nodular scabies can result.
Nodular scabies is caused by trapped debris from the scabies mite such as body parts
and fecal matter. Because the body senses this trapped material under the skin as foreign, it attempts to encase the foreign
matter, resulting in hardened areas that can itch terribly for months.
Treating Nodular Scabies: Very thorough skin cleansing and skin exfoliation during your scabies treatment
is a critical part of a fast and complete cure of scabies. Nodular Scabies can be eased by using cold compresses, moisturizing
the skin and using medication for the itch.
Norwegian Scabies: Many of our customers want to know what is the difference between
regular scabies and Norwegian scabies.
The main difference between Norwegian scabies and regular scabies is the number of mites present on an infected
In a typical case of scabies, the number of mites on a host at any one
time is, on average, 10 to 15 (with a range of 3-50). Persons with
Norwegian scabies, on the other hand, will have thousands to
millions of mites. Consequently, their skin manifestations are much
more severe, with thick, hyperkeratotic crusts that can occur on
almost any area of the body.
The type of mite in both presentations is exactly the same. The
difference lies with the host, with those developing Norwegian
scabies usually having a compromised immune system. Indeed, a
normal host who acquires scabies from a patient with Norwegian
scabies will develop only a usual case of scabies
Norwegian Scabies requires products that will break down the crust
and also heal infection quickly.

Ridding your body and home of skin parasites
Nobody wants to be dealing with mite infestation but the truth is, it's pretty easy to catch scabies and
you should not feel bad about yourself if you do become infested. Here are some of the ways this could happen:
How do you catch scabies?
1. Personal prolonged contact with a person who has scabies
2. Close contact, usually starting at the wrist caused by
holding hands with a person who has scabies.
3. Close contact with infected clothing, socks,
bedding or towels.
4. Shaking hands (unlikely but not impossible)
5. Sleeping together or sleeping on a mattress that has been
infested with mites from someone who slept on it within the
last 72 hours.
6. Sitting on a cloth chair or coach that has been infested
with mites from someone who sat on it within the last 72

Get Rid of Parasites Feeding on You! Did you know that if you can capture samples of your scabies mites, that you actually can look at them through a pocket microscope? You don't have to wonder any longer.
Mites are about the size of a dot at the end of a sentence and can usually be seen under perfect situations. They are grayish in color and nearly transparent.
Now you can do your own examination of what is biting you with this compact but powerful pocket microscope. 100Xs magnification. Now you can have something to take to your Dermatologist or Doctor to see! Requires 2 "AA" batteries.
Have you been to the dermatologist only to be told that there is nothing wrong? Do you itch or feel like things are crawling on you but you can't see them?
If so, despite a doctor that may be telling you "it's all in your head" or "it's nerves", you may have scabies.
Are springtails and scabies the same thing? No. Scabies is caused by mites that burrow under the skin. Springtails are common, wingless insects (not mites) that are of the order Collumbola. Springtails love damp areas so people can find them in tubs, places where there is moisture, etc. They can become very plentiful so if you notice them, it's good to take action unless you wanta live with them.
Not typically regarded as parasites that often infest humans, there have been documentated cases of springtail infestation and some dermatological scientists think that collumbola infestation may be more common that is currently believed.

Other types of mites that may bite or infest humans:
In addition to scabies, there are other types of mites that may pose a threat to the health of humans who come in contact with them. Here's a partial list:
House Dust Mites - The house dust mites (floor mites) are increasing
in medical significance to humans. The importance of house dust mites
is that pieces of the mites in house dust may produce allergic reactions
and asthma when inhaled. It is presently estimated that four percent of
the human population shows a house dust allergy.
Bird Mites - The preferred food of a bird mite is, of course, birds but if a nest is disrupted or disturbed and that nest is in an eave or gutter of a house, the mites
may then go in search of other hosts, including human. Also, when fledgling birds leave the nest, the mites may then need another food source.
Insect Mites - A human can pick up a mite infestation from being in hay, alfalfa or barley. Because the straw inch mite is so small, a person may
never see them but will develop dermatitis on the clothed areas of the body within 24 hours after exposure.
Rodent Mites - Again, as the name implies, these mites prefer rodents. However, they will feed on humans and their bites can result in swollen red spots that last for days.
The two most common rodent mites in buildings are the
tropical rat mite and the house mouse mite.

How do you know when the scabies is gone?
The answer to that is, you
won't feel the pin prick biting anymore.
If all you feel is itching,
then most likely your scabies is gone and you must deal with the
itching from nodular scabies until it is resolved.
